The process of receiving/handing over cargo – main aspects

In order to preserve the cargo and ensure its correct acceptance by the recipient, the consignor of the cargo has the following responsibilities:

  • strict compliance with the norms and standards of packaging, labeling and sealing in accordance with existing rules;
  • accurate determination of the quantity of shipped products: mass or cargo units (boxes, bags, bundles, stacks, packs, etc.);
  • when shipping packaged or packaged goods, it is necessary to enclose a document stipulated by standards and technical conditions in each container;
  • the execution of shipping and accompanying documents must be clear, without erasures, corrections or erasures; information about the quantity and condition of the cargo specified in such documents must correspond to the actual data;
  • strict compliance with loading and fastening rules;
  • systematic control over the actions of persons who determine the quantity of products being shipped and fill out shipping documents for them.

Accordingly, the consignee is obliged to accept the cargo from the carrier. These duties include:

  • checking, in appropriate cases, the presence or integrity of seals on the vehicle or container;
  • checking the condition of the rolling stock, its compliance with the rules for transporting this cargo, the preservation of the packaging (container), the presence of protective markings;
  • checking the compliance of the name of the cargo, its quantity, the condition of the marking on the packaging (container), the information specified in the transport document;
  • if necessary, the consignee has the right to demand from the carrier the release of the cargo by the number of places or weight, if such an obligation is imposed on the carrier by law.
